Move-to-Improve (MTI) is a free NYC district public elementary school program designed to get students out of their seats and moving more during the school day.
This classroom-based physical activity program helps elementary school teachers enhance their lessons by integrating physical activity into academic instruction to get students moving.
MTI All-Star schools may count up to 40 minutes per week and 5 days a week of Move-to-Improve activities in STARS to supplement their PE requirement for the school year.
Research shows that:
- Physically active students do better in school
- Daily physical activity can help students focus and behave better in class
- Physical activity helps students to be healthy
