Qualified Move-to-Improve All-Star schools that regularly use Move-to-Improve activities during classroom instruction can include up to 40 minutes per week and 5 days per week of Move-to-Improve activities in STARS Classroom to supplement their PE time and frequency requirement for the school year. The NYC Department of Education recommends weekly PE instruction occur as a minimum of two 40 minute periods, in addition to 40 minutes of MTI activities in each classroom. Move-to-Improve can be used to supplement PE time requirements but cannot replace an instructional PE program. For additional information, please review the Elementary Academic Policy Guide.
